MERITO: Prof. Koteswararao Kondepu at NSLab, Ashish Saranshi joins the lab

Prof. Koteswararao Kondepu, from the Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad, has spent the past days working with us in L'Aquila under the MERITO project, and the collaboration continues: Ashish Saranshi joins NSLab for the coming weeks.

MERITO is a joint Italy–India project between the University of L'Aquila and IIT Dharwad on energy monitoring and optimization in Open RAN: intelligent transport, xApps and rApps that learn from real-time data, and energy savings that do not come at the expense of quality of service.

The work is hands-on, on our O-RAN infrastructure based on BubbleRAN: measuring, instrumenting, and testing the first optimization logic on real radio equipment rather than in simulation.

MERITO is funded under the Executive Programme of Scientific and Technological Cooperation between Italy and India 2025–2027 (Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and Department of Science & Technology, Government of India), in the Exchange of Researchers scheme, with early-career researchers moving in both directions.

Thank you Kote, welcome Ashish.
